17/10/2025, MELBOURNE: Nissan Australia has taken out two wins at the prestigious 2025 Australian Good Design Awards.

The new Nissan ARIYA battery-electric SUV has been honoured with the coveted Australian Good Design Award Gold Winner accolade in the Product Design – Automotive and Transport category, while the hybrid reinvented Nissan QASHQAI e-POWER N-Design has secured the Australian Good Design Award Winner recognition in the same category.

Nissan ARIYA MY25: Gold Standard in Electric Vehicle Design

A limited number of Good Design Award Gold Winner accolades are presented annually to products that demonstrate design excellence and innovation. The award positions the Nissan ARIYA among Australia's most outstanding design achievements for 2025.

Already praised by the automotive media for its performance and value, the ARIYA's "Timeless Japanese Futurism" design philosophy blends futuristic sculptural elements with natural curvature. The 'face' of the ARIYA replaces a traditional grille with what Nissan's designers describe as a seamless V-motion 'shield' incorporating the stylised Kumiko pattern, creating a bold visual statement for the electric era.

Inside, the spacious interior features soft "Andon" illumination inspired by traditional Japanese lanterns, creating a serene cabin environment that complements the vehicle's electric powertrain, which offers a driving range of up to 504km for the 87kWh ADVANCE+ model^.

Good Design Australia Jury comments: “Nissan ARIYA is an innovative, fully electric crossover SUV that blends modern sophistication with Nissan’s Timeless Japanese Design. Outside is minimalist and swoopy, inside is a tech-fest. The front grille and headlights are of particular note, and the rear end and wheel arches have avoided Nissan's sometimes overly fussy styling. The Jury praised the typically-EV flat floor and minimalist dashboard, materials and interior cabin design that gives a premium feel. The integrated interface in the grained centre console/dash is extremely cool.”

Nissan QASHQAI e-POWER N-Design: Innovation in Hybrid Excellence

The Nissan QASHQAI e-POWER N-Design's Good Design Award Winner recognition celebrates the model's sophisticated approach to hybrid technology and premium design elements.

Available exclusively with Nissan's innovative e-POWER powertrain, the N-Design combines a 1.5L turbo-petrol engine with an electric motor system, delivering 140kW and 330Nm while achieving 4.8L/100km fuel consumption (combined cycle)>.

The N-Design variant features distinctive 20" alloy wheels, gloss-black mirror covers and Alcantara accents throughout the cabin, along with an updated front grille consisting of high-gloss, three-dimensional comma-shaped elements.

Good Design Australia Jury Comments: “Australia’s small SUV segment is one of the most fiercely contested car market categories. This fresh new design really brings a sense of fun into this well fought segment.”

Recognition from Australia's Premier Design Authority

The Australian Good Design Awards, established in 1958 and endorsed by the World Design Organization, represent Australia's highest international design accolade. Nissan's winning models will be celebrated during Good Design Awards Week from October 13 to 17, 2025.

Rachel Wye, Managing Director of Good Design Australia, reflects on the calibre of this year’s entries: “The standard of Award Winners in this year’s Australian Good Design Awards was the highest on record, with game-changing projects that push the envelope of good design, design innovation and design impact. These Awards clearly demonstrate the transformational power of design to create a better and more sustainable future.”

She added: “The projects honoured this year show how thoughtful design can drive meaningful change – from the way we live and work to how we care for our planet. The Australian Good Design Awards are proud to recognise these world-class examples of design excellence, which not only enhance human experience, but also make a profound contribution to creating a more balanced and sustainable world.”

"Great design has always been a hallmark of Nissan vehicles. These awards further validate our approach to design that prioritises both form and function," said Warwick Daly, Deputy Director Marketing & Mobility, Nissan Australia.

"The ARIYA represents our vision for electric mobility with distinctly Japanese aesthetic principles, while the QASHQAI e-POWER N-Design showcases how hybrid technology re-invented can be seamlessly integrated with premium design elements."

"QASHQAI is an Australian favourite and initial consumer feedback to the all-electric ARIYA suggests it too will be a popular choice," Mr Daly stated.
