About Nissan LEAF:
The Nissan LEAF made its global debut in 2010 and has sold over 472,000 units globally, making it one of the most successful EVs in history. The second-generation LEAF arrived in Australia in July 2019, and embodies Nissan Intelligent Mobility - the company’s approach to changing the way cars are driven, powered and integrated into society.
The three key aspects of Nissan Intelligent Mobility exemplified by the new Nissan LEAF are Nissan Intelligent Driving, Nissan Intelligent Power and Nissan Intelligent Integration – with the latter highlighted by the V2G capability of LEAF.
In an Australian first, the Realising Electric Vehicles-to-grid Services (REVS) project is demonstrating how commercially available EVs and chargers can contribute to energy security by injecting power into the grid.
Utilising 51 Nissan LEAF EV’s deployed across the ACT as part of the ACT government fleet, the REVS project seeks to unlock the economic benefits using EV’s to support the reliability and resilience of the electricity grid and in turn making electric vehicles a more viable and appealing transport option for fleet operators.
The REVS consortium covers the whole electricity and transport supply chains including ActewAGL, Evoenergy, Nissan, Sgfleet, JET Charge, ACT Government and the Australian National University. Together we will produce results, roadmaps, and recommendations that will accelerate the deployment of V2G nationally.
The project received funding from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) as part of ARENA’s Advancing Renewables Program.
