The new Nissan X-TRAIL now comes in a choice of petrol or diesel engines. Whichever you choose you'll get tons of power, impressive fuel economy and performance that is definately not for pretenders. The 2.5 litre, 4 cylinder petrol engine features a Continuous Valve Timing Control System (CVT CS), which constantly adjusts the valve timing to improve combustion and optimize performance. This gutsy petrol engine delivers peak performance of 125kW of power at 6,000rpm and maximum torque of 226Nm@4,400rpm. But, most importantly, it produces torque all the way through the rev range. This is particularly beneficial when towing; which contributes to why X-TRAIL can offer you a huge 2,000kg braked towing capacity.
With rising fuel costs, more and more people are taking advantage of the fuel efficiency of diesel. For the first time ever, the Nissan X-TRAIL is now available with a 2.0 litre turbo diesel engine. This energetic power plant features Nissan's very latest in common-rail technology and produces a whopping 127kW of power and 360Nm of torque on the manual model.

- 125kW of power at 6000rpm.
- 226Nm of torque at 4400rpm.
- Continuous Valve Timing Control (CVTC) lowers noise and vibrations.
6-speed manual transmission
- Improved gear design and surface finishing.
- Shift guiding plate lends an improved performance feel.
- Wide gear ratios and reduced friction improve fuel efficiency.
6-speed automatic transmission (diesel models only)
- Smooth close ratio transmission
- Designed for optimised gear selection to suit your driving conditions.
Optional Xtronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) (Petrol models only)
- Computer-controlled 'step less' transmission provides a virtually limitless number of ratios for smoother acceleration, optimum driving performance and fuel efficiency.
- Damper on the hydraulic converter provides maximised refinement for a better driving experience.
- 6-speed M-Mode for a sportier drive.
ALL MODE 4x4-i technology
- Allows you to choose between '2WD', 'AUTO' (fully automatic 4WD) or 'LOCK' mode depending on driving conditions.
- Mode control knob conveniently situated behind the gear lever on the centre console.
- When in 'AUTO' mode, the system utilises predictive sensors to analyse the terrain as you drive, providing precisely the right amount of torque to each wheel.
- Inclusion of sensors monitoring side, front and rear G force, yaw rates and steering angles for improved stability.
- Includes other advanced on board systems, such as Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), Traction Control System (TCS), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) for greater stability and control.
- Hill descent control and hill start assist work with the ALL MODE 4x4-i to provide improved control when driving down steep inclines or uphill.
