Petrol Or Diesel?
The Nissan X-TRAIL is available in a choice of petrol or diesel engines. Whichever you choose you'll get loads of power, impressive fuel economy and performance that is definitely not for pretenders.
2.5 litre petrol engine
The 2.5 litre, 4 cylinder petrol engine features a Continuous Valve Timing Control System (CVTCS) which constantly adjusts the valve timing to improve combustion and optimise performance. It also generates lower noise and vibration. This gutsy petrol engine with twin overhead camshafts delivers peak performance of 125kW of power at 6,000rpm and a maximum torque of 226Nm at 4,400rpm.
2.0 litre diesel engine
This energetic 4 cylinder, turbo charged, 16 valve power plant features Nissan's very latest in common-rail diesel technology and produces a whopping 127kW of power and 360Nm of torque on the manual model. This engine has all the tough power and torque characteristics of a diesel yet provides the responsiveness you’d expect from a petrol engine.
Xtronic CVT transmission
The X-TRAIL petrol's Xtronic Continuously Variable Automatic Transmission (CVT) is a computer controlled ‘stepless' transmission providing a virtually limitless number of ratios, ensuring the engine is always working as efficiently as possible. It's more comfortable, too: a long uphill drive in a conventional automatic will invariably be accompanied by regular down shifts as the engine hunts for power. With CVT, the engine revs stay constant as the transmission itself adjusts seamlessly to ensure momentum is maintained. For a more sporty drive, the CVT system has Manual Mode (M-Mode), which is operated via the central gear stick, 6 set ratios can be accessed manually by nudging the lever forward or back.
6-speed manual
The 6-speed manual transmission offers improved gear design and surface finishing. The shift guiding plate lends an improved performance feel with wide gear ratios and reduced friction for improved fuel efficiency.
6-speed auto
The smooth 6-speed automatic is a close ratio transmission designed for optimised gear selection to suit your driving conditions.
DOHC
A double overhead cam is characterised by two camshafts located within the cylinder head, one operating the inlet valves and one operating the exhaust valves.
ALL-MODE 4x4-i technology
The ALL-MODE 4x4-i dial allows you to choose between '2WD', 'AUTO' (fully automatic 4WD) or 'LOCK' mode depending on driving conditions. The Mode control dial is conveniently situated behind the gear lever on the centre console. When in 'AUTO' mode, the system utilises predictive sensors to analyse the terrain as you drive, providing precisely the right amount of torque to each wheel. The inclusion of sensors monitor side, front and rear G-force, yaw rates and steering angles for improved stability in varied driving conditions.
Hill start assist
Allows you to accelerate the vehicle and move uphill with ease. The brake remains engaged for a few seconds when on a steep hill while you switch feet from the brake to the accelerator - helping prevent roll back.
Hill descent control
Uses the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) to apply braking pressure and keep your vehicle at approximately 8km/h helping you maintain control during a steep descent.
Fuel economy/fuel tank
The petrol models have a fuel consumption of 9.5* litres per 100km (manual) or 9.3* litres per 100km (CVT automatic). The diesel models have a fuel consumption of 7.4* litres per 100km (manual) or 8.1* litres per 100km (6-speed automatic) on diesel models. The X-TRAIL fuel tank capacity is 65 litres (*figures have been calculated in accordance with ADR81/01. Actual fuel consumption will vary depending on driving conditions, driver behaviour, the condition of your vehicle and the accessories fitted).
State Of The Art Safety
The X-TRAIL is packed with state of the art safety features so you can enjoy permanent peace of mind. Superior control and traction is achieved through Nissan's Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Brake Assist (BA), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Electronic Stability Program (ESP). You'll also find 6 standard SRS airbags, ventilated disc brakes and halogen headlights.
Stablility Program
Electronic Stability Program, is an advanced safety feature, which helps you remain in control of your vehicle during critical situations to avoid serious accidents. The system achieves this by comparing the actions of the driver with the momentary vehicle behaviour and controls the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Traction Control Systems (TCS) accordingly, to initiate the appropriate corrective action by selectively braking individual wheels and controlling engine power. This stabilises the vehicle and keeps it on its intended path.
Dual front airbags
Reduces the risk of facial and upper body injuries to the driver and passenger in the event of a frontal collision. The airbags are designed to remain inflated long enough to help provide enhanced protection.
Dual side airbags
Side airbags are deployed in the event of a side impact to protect the driver and passenger.
Dual curtain airbags
Furthermore, roof mounted curtain side impact supplemental airbags drop down in the event of a side impact for added head protection.
Anti-lock Braking System
The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) helps you retain directional control whilst braking. It optimises braking performance by sensing wheel lock and sending a signal to the braking system to release the locked wheel. As the wheel unlocks, it can be steered. The system individually applies and releases the brakes to help provide optimum stopping and control under extreme braking situations.
Brake Assist
In emergency braking situations, Brake Assist (BA) generates extra pressure on the braking system. Brake Assist and ABS work together to give optimum control by preventing wheel lockage when braking.
Brakeforce Distribution
Senses the load condition of both passengers and luggage to optimise rear brakeforce and control front and rear brake distribution. This enables safer driving, whether on your own or while carrying a full load of passengers or cargo.
Seatbelt pretensioners
The front seatbelts include a pretensioner and load limiter. The pretensioner uses sensors to determine the severity of a potential crash and instantly tightens accordingly. Should additional force be exerted on the seatbelt, the load limiter ensures appropriate give so as to reduce any damaging pressure on the torso of front seat occupants.
Halogen headlights
Halogen headlights provide brilliant, sharp illumination for night driving, improving safety.
Crumple zones
The front of the X-TRAIL features a crumple zone, which helps absorb impacts. The energy-absorbing interior steering column compresses during frontal impacts to improve occupant safety significantly. The rear, inbuilt crumple zone furthermore helps absorb impact and reduce the risk of injury.
Four disc brakes
Heat is dissipated more rapidly to improve braking action, promote less brake fade and enhance brake life.
Immobiliser
A standard engine immobiliser provides additional protection against theft.
The X-TRAIL ST features a powerful 2.5 litre petrol engine with 125kW of power and 226Nm of torque, in your choice of 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission with 6-speed M-Mode. ALL MODE 4x4-i technology is standard across the range offering your choice of 2WD, auto and 4WD lock modes with the added bonus of hill descent control and hill start assist. Safety features include Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Traction Control System (TCS), an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BAS), as well as front, side and curtain SRS airbags. X-TRAIL's exterior features authentic SUV styling and 16” steel wheels with covers. The interior is packed full of features including power windows and mirrors, CD player, remote central locking, air conditioning, cruise control , washable luggage board and a unique double luggage floor system with 40/20/40 split fold rear seats.
The X-TRAIL ST-L includes all the features of the ST shown above, with exterior enhancements including 17-inch alloy wheels, front fog lamps and chrome grille surround. Interior wise, the addition of leather steering wheel, park brake and gear knob as well as climate control air conditioning and a 6 speaker, 6CD stacker with MP3 compatibility make this ST-L a popular choice.
