On August 2, 2009 we unveiled the very first version of our electric vehicle, the Nissan LEAF, which goes on sale in Japan and the U.S. in late 2010 and across global markets from 2012. This is a vehicle that does not emit any CO₂ when driven* - in fact - it has no tail pipe.

* The Nissan Electric Car produces zero emissions during operation. Depending on the energy source used, CO₂ and pollutant emissions may be produced during the manufacture of the vehicle and battery, the re-charging of the battery and disposal of the battery.
